Job Description:
Position Overview: As a Telemetry/Progressive Care Nurse (LPN/RN), you will be responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients requiring telemetry monitoring and intermediate-level nursing interventions.
Working in a dynamic healthcare environment, you will assess, monitor, and manage the care of patients with complex medical conditions, collaborating with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients admitted to the telemetry/progressive care unit, including physical assessments, review of medical history, and assessment of telemetry readings.
Monitor and interpret telemetry readings, recognizing and responding promptly to changes in cardiac rhythms and vital signs, and initiating appropriate interventions as necessary.
Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by physicians, ensuring accurate documentation and monitoring for adverse reactions.
Provide nursing care to patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, such as heart failure, arrhythmias, respiratory disorders, and post-surgical recovery.
Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other members of the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients, incorporating evidence-based practices and patient preferences.
Assist with diagnostic procedures and interventions, such as cardiac catheterization, echocardiography, and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies, promoting patient engagement and adherence to prescribed therapies.
Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in the electronic medical record system, maintaining confidentiality and privacy.
Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives, continuing education activities, and interdisciplinary rounds to enhance clinical skills and knowledge in telemetry/progressive care nursing.
Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, including infection control protocols, patient safety initiatives, and professional nursing practice standards.
Qualifications:
Valid LPN or RN license issued by the state board of nursing.
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and telemetry certification preferred for RNs.
Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience in telemetry/progressive care setting preferred.
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage complex patient care situations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a patient-centered approach to care.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, demonstrating flexibility, adaptability, and professionalism.
