POSITION: Healthcare Teacher (1.
0 FTE) for the 2024-2025 school year to teach the Medical Professions classes at
Benson High School as part of Cochise Technology District (CTD) CTED’s Healthcare Programs.
Contract will be
effective July 8, 2024 and conclude May 16, 2025.
DESCRIPTION: The Medical Professions Teacher will be an integral part of the instructional team for the Nursing Services,
Medical Assisting and Mental Health Programs in partnership with Cochise Technology District CTED and
Cochise College.
This teaching position starts at 7:30am teaches until 3:30pm, Monday-Friday.
The Medical
Professions class is an introductory course to healthcare professions with emphasis on Nursing Services,
Patient Care Tech, Medical Assisting, and Mental Health.
This class adheres to the standards of the Arizona
Department of Education (ADE).
Classroom & laboratory instruction for some classes is based in technology
and connects students from several high schools with Cochise College and industry partners.
The Teacher will
be the Chapter Advisor for the HOSA career and technical student organization (CTSO) as required by the
state ADE for an approved CTE program.
The teacher may also be hired by Cochise College as a clinical
instructor, if the required credentialing is in place.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid license as an LPN, RN, PA, CNA, PCT or another healthcare laboratory field and 5 years work
experience in the field
Experience or willingness to learn how to teach in an online format
Excellent technology skills—virtual learning, email, Google and/or MS products, discussion forums
Strong collaboration, organizational, and communication skills; maintain good communication with Cochise
Technology District CTED, Benson High School, other Cochise County high schools and Cochise College
Instructors
Flexibility and good classroom management skills
Experience in K-12 or post-secondary classroom/laboratory instruction (preferred)
Five years practicing in the medical field.
Preference given for teaching experience to include career &
technical education; ability to instruct students in all aspects of the medical industry
Hold or be able to acquire ADE CTE Standard Health Careers Certificate
Successful candidate must pass a DPS fingerprint and background clearance check
First Aid/CPR Certification Trainer (preferred or will be provided upon hiring)
Ability to be credentialed as a Cochise College Instructor (preferred, not required)
SALARY: Salary range based on education and experience and will be commensurate with similar positions at
the high school.
